Information Technology Manager
Position Role & Objective
The position holder’s main role will be to manage provision of service and support of organization IT and telecommunications environment. He will be responsible for the strategy, plan, design, management of the implementation, both internally or through third party suppliers and supporting the technical infrastructure for the company.
The primarily role of this function is to ensure that both internal and external service provision to the business meets the businesses expectations and will include hands on PC and infrastructure support. This position is crucial in providing the customer with direct support and assistance when required and solving IT problems on site within the SLA as agreed.
This position holder is solely responsible for all IT and telecommunication services provided in the offices under their area of responsibility. The services provided include all elements of the PC Desktop from procurement to installation, configuration, on going support and disposal. Provision of LAN based services including File & Print, Email and local application access. The duties will include the planning and execution related to technology migrations and control external resources when on site. This will include managing a variety of outsourced services.

The ideal candidate should have:
Technical skills Experience in a similar senior position in a reputable IT firm, a large sophisticated corporation, or a diversified business group. Alternatively, he may demonstrate capable project management skills along with in depth up-to-date knowledge of alternative technology solutions. Familiarity with financial and management information systems. Good understanding of strategy planning techniques and financial budgeting. Ability to manage and control complex distributed desktop environment. Logical problem solving and diagnosis of IT infrastructure problems. Ideally educated to degree level of Information Technology or have gained equivalent skills. Fully trained in one or more industry standard methodologies. Background in systems application development. Strong technical knowledge in the following areas: Vendor Management: 1. Telecommunications (Data & Voice). 2. Application Solutions. 3. Hardware acquisition. 4. Outsourced service provision. Hardware: 1. Cabletron Hubs, Cisco Switches. 2. Token Ring, Ethernet. 3. HP Servers. 4. IBM Desktop and Laptops PC’s. 5. Printers HP, Lexmark, Xerox. 6. Cisco Routers. 7. It infrastructure - LAN Cabling, Voice cabling. 8. Equipment rooms, Power and UPS. Desktop operating systems and applications: 1. Desktop operating systems and applets. 2. Win 95, Win NT 4.0, Win 2000. 3. MS Office 97, 2000. 4. Outlook, Schedule+, MS Project. 5. Lotus 123. 6. WordPerfect. 7. Lotus Notes. 8. Attachmate Extra. 9. Norton Anti Virus. 10. Visio
Management skills A good leadership capable of motivating, directing and developing individuals and enforce discipline. Ability to delegate authorities. Good trouble shooting skills. Ability to delegate and manage internal and external resources effectively. Excellent time management skills.
